If you’re running an older KOSME KSB 6000, you probably know the drill. The heating starts to drift. Suddenly, you’re seeing thin walls or that annoying pearlescence in the plastic. Usually, the first instinct for most engineers is to just slow the whole machine down. It works, sure, but it’s a pain. You’re losing money every second that machine isn’t humming at full speed. Here’s the thing: you don’t actually have to sacrifice your cycle times. Often, the fix is as simple as swapping out those worn-out lamps for infrared elements that actually hit the specs they’re supposed to. Why the heat actually matters The KSB 6000 lives and dies by short-wave infrared radiation. It’s what gets the PET preform hot enough, fast enough. But lamps dim over time. Their output shifts. When that happens, your plastic doesn’t hit the glass transition temperature evenly, and that’s where your quality drops. We make sure our replacements match the exact wattage and voltage the KOSME oven expects. These high-wattage quartz tubes put the energy right where it needs to be. Just a heads-up, though—don’t try to “overclock” your oven by pushing the wattage too high to make up for a dying machine. You’ll just end up killing your cooling blowers.
