It doesn’t seem like much, but that tiny gap is enough to mess up your wall thickness and send bottles straight into the scrap bin. Why the “exact” number actually matters It’s not about being efficient; it’s about keeping things consistent. Your PID controllers are tuned for a very specific load. If you use a lamp that’s too weak, the controller has to work overtime to keep up. That puts a massive strain on your relays, and they’ll burn out way faster than they should. On the flip side, a lamp with too much juice will just bake your material. We calibrate our filaments so the heat stays the same from one end of the tube to the other. It just works. Built for the grind Rotary ovens are brutal. The constant heating and cooling can snap cheap glass. That’s why we use high-purity quartz—it can take the beating. Plus, we made these “drop-in” replacements. You won’t have to mess with your wiring or move your racks around. They just slide in and handle those nasty industrial voltage spikes without popping a filament. One last thing… Getting the power match right solves the fluctuation problem, but it does mean your cooling system has to do its job. If your ventilation is clogged or your blowers are dying, it doesn’t matter how perfect the lamp is—you’re still going to overheat the preform. Keep your airflow clean.
